Ever so often, we lay down ambitious plans, charting our pathways to get to where we envision ourselves. This is particularly so for very ambitious people - you see the end goal you want and you lay years-long plans to accomplish it. What most of us fail to account for is serendipity, luck, chance and the complete randomness of life. I'll use my current career path as a case study. Come with me.

Career Lessons from the past year
As I have progressed on my journey, I have learned some valuable lessons. I started writing them down from the beginning of the year and I am glad I did because I had forgotten I even learnt some of what I shared here.

To doctor or not to doctor?
During my time in Obstetrics and gynecology posting, I performed my first ceaserean section with assistance from a medical officer. I posted pictures of my time in surgery on social media and, as expected, I got so many positive remarks and all of that. I was elated to say the least. At the time of the surgery I was a bit scared and excited but it felt like just another thing. As I looked back at the pictures, remembering the moments in theater, my heart swelled with pride and I was truly HAPPY. As the day ended, with more likes trickling in, I felt a soft pull in my heart…
