Notice: Function _load_textdomain_just_in_time was called incorrectly. Translation loading for the amp domain was triggered too early. This is usually an indicator for some code in the plugin or theme running too early. Translations should be loaded at the init action or later. Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. Notice: Function amp_has_paired_endpoint was called incorrectly. Function cannot be called before services are registered. The service ID "paired_routing" is not recognized and cannot be retrieved. Notice: Function amp_is_available was called incorrectly. `amp_is_available()` (or `amp_is_request()`, formerly `is_amp_endpoint()`) was called too early and so it will not work properly. WordPress is not currently doing any hook. Calling this function before the `wp` action means it will not have access to `WP_Query` and the queried object to determine if it is an AMP response, thus neither the `amp_skip_post()` filter nor the AMP enabled toggle will be considered. The function was called too early (before the plugins_loaded action) to determine the plugin source. Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. 2019 in retrospect: THANKFUL

2019 is almost over! Am I excited? Am I glad? Tbh, I really can’t say, majorly because, in recent years, I have stopped being so freaked about the new year, new months and all that. This time of the year, things become slow and a lot of people start shifting tasks to ‘next year’ when really the whole concept of the calendar is just for us to keep track of time – not to be ruled by it. Even at that, I am way more ecstatic about the future than I was a month ago. I had initially planned to feature people sharing their 2019 story but life happened and…

What does SUCCESS mean to you?

Since completing my medical internship year, I’ve increasingly become occupied with trying to define, for myself, what success means. In a world where there are so many attractions, one sees different shades of what success seems to be almost daily. As much as we like to say success isn’t equivalent to making money, the world over, money seems to be a unifying factor among all notable success stories. A common definition of success has to do with fame and wealth, with little regard of how it is gotten, and at what cost. However, I personally don’t think it is wise for anyone to tie their definition of success to money,…

To doctor or not to doctor?

During my time in Obstetrics and gynecology posting, I performed my first ceaserean section with assistance from a medical officer. I posted pictures of my time in surgery on social media and, as expected, I got so many positive remarks and all of that. I was elated to say the least. At the time of the surgery I was a bit scared and excited but it felt like just another thing. As I looked back at the pictures, remembering the moments in theater, my heart swelled with pride and I was truly HAPPY. As the day ended, with more likes trickling in, I felt a soft pull in my heart…

One year post induction; Life lessons and more

You know that two-word phrase ‘time flies’? It seems cliche until you look back and you realise that time actually flies. It’s been 14 months since my final exams in medical school, 12 months since I got inducted into the medical profession, 9 months since I started my internship and 3 months since I officially graduated. These numbers don’t add up and that’s just because of the disfunctionality in the Nigerian system. But today is not about Nigeria. Today is about marking a year since I officially became a doctor! It seems like a century ago and yet it seems like yesterday. Time does fly. I decided to share some…

    Living free!

As much as I detest WhatsApp statuses, I’ve actually learnt quite a lot from reading people’s thoughts on there. It makes for a simple medium to share thoughts without much of a hassle. I selectively view statuses and I’m almost always happy with those I choose. Today’s post was inspired by the status updates of two people on my contact list. Both of them are complete strangers to each other having just me as their mutual contact, but they managed to post something similar on their statuses within hours of each other. I decided to share some of my reflections based on their posts. The main point of both posts…
